The media always comments on the First Lady’s fashion choices and Melania Trump’s fashion is quite different from previous first ladies. Q: How would you describe the difference?
When Trump won the election a few designers, such as Tom Ford, Christian Siriano and Marc Jacobs announced they wouldn’t dress her. Why do you think they refused?
Reasons:
Tom Ford - “[My clothes] are too expensive. The first lady should relate to anybody”
Marc Jacobs - “I’d rather put my energy into helping out those who will be hurt by Trump and his supporters.”
Christian Siriano -" “For someone like myself, a young gay fashion designer, I can’t support a campaign where I might not have the same rights. I just got married.”

Jun 2019 - visit to England - unclear - historically royal British women wear hats to the right side to allow men to stand on their left. Melania’s hat blocks her view of Trump so the British media reaction was positive if she planned it
