Millennials: Born between 1981-1996 (also known as Gen Y)

Zoomers: Born between 1997-2012 (also known as Gen Z or Tiktok teens)

These years were decided based on cultural and technological factors such as 9/11, smartphone, SNS, 2008 recession

They were preceded by Generation X, (Baby) Boomers

 

 

Recently on Tik Tok, Gen Z have been making fun of Millennials for their habits and trends.

  • In the 90’s people wanted to buy a house or a mansion. Now these Gen-Xers and Boomers want to sell their houses. Why?

  • Millennials prefer to RENT an apartment. Why?

    • Price

    • Jobs

    • Time


  • Zoomers prefer to buy a house. Why?


    • investment

    • they grew up online

Answers:

Their kids have grown up and they want to downsize (to reduce costs)
Too expensive , often change jobs - new locations, feel they are too busy to maintain a house
Zoomers - are used to living/playing/living online
