February 24th:

Russia invades Ukraine.

The Champion’s League Final is scheduled to be held in Russia this year. What should UEFA do?


February 25th:

The 2022 Champions League final is moved to Paris

That weekend:

  • West Ham showed support for Ukraine with a picture of one of their players on the stadium

  • Football fans in England were waving signs and flags showing their support for Ukraine.

  • Players wore shirts in support of Ukraine


February 26th:

Poland and Sweden announce they are refusing to play Russia in a world cup qualifier due to the war in Ukraine

Later England, Wales and the Czech Republic all said the same thing.

How do you think FIFA reacted?




February 27th:

Fifa told Russia to play their future games in neutral territory under the name the Football Union of Russia without their flag and anthem

February 28th:

Uefa announced they Gazprom contract has been cancelled



March 1st:

FIFA and UEFA announce Russia has been suspended from all football competitions. Do you think the IOC will do the same?

The IOC first said Russia and Belarus would be banned from future Olympics but Beijing was too soon to remove the athletes.

Many nations threatened to boycott the paralympics so on March 3rd they announced Russia athletes had been banned.





On February 27th Daniil Medvedev became the #1 ranked tennis player in the world.

Should he be banned from competing in tennis tournaments?

Is it different than banning a the Russian football team from the World Cup or Spartak Moscow from the Champion’s League?
