“Don’t Say Gay” bill
Disney criticized a new law in Florida which banned discussing sexual orientation in school classrooms. If a child has gay parents, they won’t be allowed to talk about them in school. Florida increased the taxes Disney had to pay.
Bob Chapek personally didn’t criticize the law. His LGBT+ employees were angry by his silence
Scarlett Johansson
Disney was sued by Scarlet Johannson because her movie was released on Disney Plus (for $30) AND cinemas at the same time. She couldn’t get her bonus which was connected to cinema earnings. (She had already been paid $20 million.)
Why did Disney release it on Disney Plus? Was she right to sue Disney?

RESULTS:
Insiders say Disney will always have to donate money to politicians because new laws will affect their business too much
In the US Disney is building more premium hotels due to higher profits. These guests can stay at the park until much later than normal guests.
In the US you can already do this at parks (you just wait until your number is called and pick up your order at the counter (like at Mcdonald’s)
Parks are trying this out in a few stores already. You use your phone to scan the items, get a back from the “mobile pay” area and show your receipt to staff when you leave.
Lightyear, Star Wars, Dr. Strange have all featured openly LGBT characters. Frozen has an LGBT character too.
Disney said they plan to avoid censoring future films for international markets. Beauty and the Beast couldn’t be shown in Malaysia. Lightyear was banned in 14 countries
In India Disney decided not to continue paying to show the Indian Cricket League because it wasn’t profitable. They lost many subscribers as a result
